Hi! I’m Joe! I am an Academic Coach for Staying Ahead of the Game. I have a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing with a minor in Spanish at University of Houston. I have 7 years of teaching experience including teaching English in Thailand and Spain. I also have experience as a middle school reading interventionist, a GED instructor at Baker Ripley, and an SAT tutor at Huntington’s Learning Center. Mental flexibility and self-control are two skills that I find personally helpful when it comes to teaching students. These two skills help me accommodate student needs and exercise the patience needed for a struggling student. I want to teach my students that hard work is difficult, however, when we add a little bit of curiosity and fun to the mix, it becomes a lot easier!
